Let's read
Psalm 119:14-16
“I REJOICE in following your STATUTES
as one rejoices in great riches.
I MEDITATE on your PRECEPTS
and consider your ways.
I DELIGHT in your DECREES;
I will not neglect your WORD”.
A Statute means - a
written law.
A
Precept means - a general rule intended to regulate behaviour.
A
Decree means - an official order that has the force of law.
Statues,
Precepts and Decrees can be summed up into three easily understandable words –
Rules, Regulations and Commands.
The
famous adage “Rules are meant to be broken” is not Biblically correct. God’s
Rules, Regulations and Commands are very much part of His great plan for you. THEY
ARE NOT MEANT TO BE BROKEN BUT TO BE FOLLOWED DILIGENTLY. “For I
know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you
and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”(Jeremiah 29:11). And as part of His eternal plan for your life, God
instructs you and commands you. God’s instructions and commands are not meant
to trouble you but to make you the best by testing you.
When you understand that God’s instructions are for your best, you will also
say what the psalmist said in the above scripture portion.
Can you say the
following?
“Lord, I REJOICE in following your RULES!”
“Lord, I MEDITATE on your REGULATIONS!”
“Lord, I DELIGHT in your COMMANDS!”
“Hence, Lord I will not NEGLECT studying your WORD
(The Bible)!”
If your heart is able to say the above in Spirit and in Truth, you are
certainly BLESSED…!!
